Review: Les Miserables at the Ohio Theatre
Les Miserables continues to captivate audiences with its profound themes of love, sacrifice, and redemption. This acclaimed musical, set in early 19th-century France, follows Jean Valjean's journey for redemption after serving time for a petty crime. As he navigates his new life while being pursued by the relentless Inspector Javert, Valjean vows to protect the orphaned Cosette, leading to a tale intertwined with love and revolution.
The 25th Anniversary production introduces a fresh approach by replacing the iconic revolving turntable with dynamic set pieces and projections inspired by Victor Hugo's artwork. While this change may affect the visual impact for seasoned fans, the exceptional cast delivers powerful performances that elevate the overall experience. Standout performances include Randy Jeter as Valjean and Nicole Fragala as Fantine, whose rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" resonates deeply. The orchestra, under the direction of Glenn Alexander II, beautifully complements Claude-Michel Schonberg's score.
Les Miserables remains a monumental theatrical achievement, showcasing timeless storytelling and musical brilliance. The production runs at the Ohio Theatre until.
Paramount Theatre - Seattle Customers Reviews
Les Miserable was raunchy and done in poor taste!
I was very surprised at the foul and dirty language that was used!!! It seemed liked that there was more emphasis placed on the songs and rhetoric at the tavern than there was on the survival of the orphan girl and her love story. I have highly discouraged my friends from going and will not recommend this production to any one. It was definitely not a family event. The quality of the singing and acting was there, but the distastefulness of the dialogue and the mockery of such debauchery was very disappointing to me. I am so sorry that I spent the time and money to attend and especially with it being on Valentine's Day made it even worse.
